How To: Use the FedEx Shipping Calculator to get a Rough Estimate of Shipping Costs

Follow

It’s important to get an idea for how much it will cost to ship your self-fulfilled Standard products such as Originals and Limited editions.  While there isn’t a foolproof way to make sure you are charging the correct amount, you can still get a close approximation by using a free tool provided by Fedex.  In this article we will use Fedex’s tool to get rough estimates for how much it will cost to ship to the different regions of the U.S. (Northeast, Southwest, etc.). Please note that you will need to make sure you select your country if not in the U.S. - this article assumes you are shipping from the U.S.

  1. Go to https://www.fedex.com/ratefinder/home?cc=lv&language=en.

  2. You will want to use your home as the From since that is where you will shipping from.  We are going to be using the Austin, Tx in this example.

  3. Now we will select a state in the Northeast region of the U.S. to get a rough quote. In the To field we are going to put a zipcode for somewhere in Maine, but you can do this for any zipcode in the Northeast.

  4. We will now need to weigh one of our heaviest Originals.  Once you have the weight, enter it in the Weight field.

  5. For the Pickup/Dropoff section we will dropping off the package at our local FedEx location, so we will select that option, but please select whichever option works best for you.

  11. The following page will have a list of delivery times and what it would cost per delivery time. We will want to look at the FedEx ground option. In this example, it would cost $39.14 to ship this package to Maine.

  12. We can now create a shipping method for the Northeast that will charge somewhere around $50 dollars.
